Bob Ruhl of the Video Service Forum (VSF) has written:
“The VSF is aware that some members have received letters from company called AVT regarding certain patent claims it owns that it asserts are necessarily infringed by any implementation of some portions of the SMPTE ST 2022 standard, a standard that is normatively referenced in a number of VSF Technical Recommendations. The VSF has not subjected these claims to legal review, and takes no position regarding their validity, or whether they would in fact be necessarily infringed by a compliant implementation of the SMPTE standard referenced in our Technical Recommendation.”
