A key factor in the decision for the new AVT MAGIC DABMUX Go Multiplexer was – besides the cost-effective price – the simple installation and configuration. Operation and monitoring are carried out via an intuitive interface via an HTML5-capable web browser. The 1U system enables very simple multiplexing and, thanks to the DSP-based hardware, offers high availability with excellent performance. Despite its size, features such as reconfigurations (manual and scheduled), extraction of subchannels from other multiplexers, insertion of NPAD data services, generation of service information, etc. are integrated.
The multiplexer was installed centrally at Hessen Digital Radio and the MAGIC AE1 DAB+ Go Audio Encoder at the respective program provider. Up to 20 programs can be connected to the smallest AVT multiplexer via external audio encoders. Installing the encoders directly in the studio effectively avoids an interference of the audio quality by codec cascading and does not require a separate supply of program accompanying data (PAD), since these can be fed directly into the encoder.
Hessen Digital Radio still has full control over the encoders thanks to the AVTMUX protocol, which allows dynamic reconfiguration. Secure Streaming also enables redundant feeding – also via the Internet.
The device can be seen live at the AVT booth at the IBC, in hall 8 booth E76, where the new professional MAGIC DABMUX plus will be shown for the first time.
